Common questions
Garden and yard questions
How often should I water new sod?
New sod needs to stay consistently moist for the first couple of weeks, usually daily with shorter waterings, until the roots take hold, then you can taper down to a normal schedule.
Should I aerate my lawn?
If the ground under your grass feels hard-packed, or water pools instead of soaking in, aeration is usually worth it: it lets air, water, and nutrients reach the roots.
Why does my lawn have dry patches or yellow spots?
Usually one of three things: compacted soil, uneven watering, or a spot getting more shade or foot traffic than the grass around it can handle. Patchy spots are worth checking early, before they spread.
